Nuremberg, a club that boasts nine German championship titles from 1920 to 1968, has found themselves in the 2. Bundesliga for the past four seasons following a short-lived return to the Bundesliga in the 2018-19 season.
With their ambitions to regain their top-flight status, Nuremberg’s attempts have been met with disappointment in recent years.
They finished the 2022-23 campaign in a disappointing 14th place, with only a five-point cushion separating them from the relegation playoff position held by Arminia Bielefeld and an eight-point gap from the automatic relegation places.
Last season, Arsenal experienced the bitter taste of disappointment as they earned the “bottlers” label from rival fans.
After spending a total of 248 days at the top of the Premier League table, the Gunners ultimately succumbed to Manchester City‘s superiority, enduring a catastrophic collapse towards the end of the season.
This collapse led to Arsenal setting an unfortunate record for spending the most time at the top of the Premier League without winning the title.
Few would have predicted that Arsenal would go head-to-head with Manchester City for several months, especially considering their initial goal of securing a top-four finish.
Of course, Arsenal’s second-place finish marked their best Premier League placement since the 2015-16 season.
Next season’s challenge starts on Thursday.
