The Cardinals went 5-10-1 last season and struggled on most fronts, while the 49ers went 13-3 and made it all the way to the Super Bowl, before losing to the Chiefs 20-31. The 49ers took home the W in both games against their rival Cardinals last season, winning week nine 28-25, and week eleven 36-26.

Rosters: 2019 1st overall pick Kyler Murray had a decent enough rookie season, given how poorly the Cardinals were as a whole, passing for 3,722 yards and 20 passing touchdowns with 12 interceptions, and rushing for a respectable 544 yards and 4 touchdowns.

The addition of DeAndre Hopkins should drastically increase the Cardinals offensive potential, as he recorded 80 or more yards in half of his games last season. He’s among the league’s best receivers and had 1,165 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns last year.

The Cardinals also still have Larry Fitzgerald, who consistently adds 700 or more yards to a team’s receiving yards total each season. Kenyan Drake is Arizona’s running back, and he ran for 817 yards, had 8 touchdowns and averaged an impressive 4.8 yards per carry in 2019.

On defense, Chandler Jones racked up a second best in the league 19 sacks, and best in the league 8 forced fumbles. End Jordan Phillips and linebacker Devon Kennard also combined for an additional 16.5 sacks last season.

The 49ers were disappointed to lose in the Super Bowl to the Chiefs, but they have plenty else to be happy about. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo seems like the guy of the future, and had nearly 4,000 passing yards, and 27 passing touchdowns with 13 interceptions.

His best passing option is George Kittle, who collected 1,053 receiving yards and caught 5 passing touchdowns last year.

The 49ers also used one of their 1st round picks to draft receiver Brandon Aiyuk, which should only improve their passing game.

Running the ball is breakout running back Raheem Mostert, who averaged an insane 5.6 yards per carry on 137 attempted runs, for a total of 772 rushing yards and 10 total touchdowns.

On defense, ends Nick Bosa and Arik Armstead combined for 19 sacks and 3 forced fumbles, and Richard Sherman continues to dominate, recording 3 interceptions and 11 passes defensed last season.

The 49ers also added Javon Kinlaw with the 14th pick in the 2020 draft, who should add some size and strength to their line.

Prediction: I’d be nervous to take Cardinals -7, but would consider -10. I would definitely consider both sides of the money line, and probably bet the over. I think the 49ers will start the season off strong with a win at home versus the Cardinals.
