Reading looked surprisingly good against league leaders Blackburn in their previous match; despite having just 35 percent of the possession, they registered 12 total shots, with seven of them going on target.
What’s more, Reading allowed just one shot on target the entire match, against a Blackburn side that had a perfect record at the time.
The Royals defeated the league leaders by a comfortable 3:0 scoreline, moving up to eighth on the league table.
Paul Ince’s men will hope to build on that win as they square off against Middlesbrough.
Middlesbrough, on the other hand, have not enjoyed their best run of form this season; in five matches played so far, Boro have only managed three draws and two losses.
However, it’s important to point out that Boro have drawn three of four league games this season, including their last two; they will need to be at their best if they intend to get any points from this trip.
Paul Ince has already lost a handful of players to injury this summer; Ovie Ejaria suffered a hamstring injury shortly after notching an assist in their first home game of the season, Yakou Méïté was injured the match before that, while Femi Azees and Sam Hutchinson picked up injuries during their pre-season campaign.
Other absentees include Liam Moore and Scott Dann. On the other hand, Chris Wilder will likely be glad to have a fully healthy squad; Boro have no injury concerns heading into this match.
With an examination of these sides, we believe that there will be goals at both ends; this is because both teams have scored and conceded a lot of goals recently.
Reading registered six goals in their last four games, whilst keeping just one clean sheet in their last six matches.
Likewise, Middlesbrough have no clean sheets in their last five games; they found the net 10 times in their last six matches.
The ‘both teams to score’ option pays at 8/11, and considering both teams scored in all of Middlesbrough’s league games this season, both teams should get on the score sheet.
